The Fassi S.p.A. Pharmaceutical Biochemical Institute has not always been linked to the unmistakable green box of Mental: the company was founded in Turin in 1936 thanks to its founder Lorenzo Torassa, initially as a pharmaceutical company, and only later did the transition to what is the current specialized production in confectionery sector. The bombing during the Second World War and the serious problems of those years made it necessary to relocate the factory from Turin to Vallecrosia, in the province of Imperia, where it remained until 2011.

The company's positive trend was consolidated under the direction of Roberto Torassa, Lorenzo's son, who was able to guide the plant towards new market sectors. In fact, if the company's flagship product is and undoubtedly remains the Mental line, the famous liquorice-based dragees in variants with and without sugar, production has expanded greatly to meet an increasingly demanding and demanding number of consumers. differentiated, and to adapt the packages, initially intended only for the tobacconist channel, to formats more suited to the sales displays of large-scale retail trade.

What makes Mental a winning brand are the continuous search for raw materials and the constant investments in new technologies and training to keep up with the times with the launch of ever new references and the continuous restyling of the packaging of each product to capture new segments of customers.

Starting from 2011, Mental has a new home: that of the production site in Chiusanico (IM), modern and spacious on approximately 5,000 m2 of surface area, suitable for hosting the new systems and allowing the obtaining of specific certificates, such as certification IFS Food, necessary to guarantee to the consuming public that production processes comply with European standards and a quality standard that is always at the top.

In 2012 Mental celebrates 76 years of experience at the service of your pleasure. Mental FASSI, a name synonymous with quality and tradition in the confectionery sector, taking advantage of its great experience in the field of aromas and flavours, decides to bring its expertise to the world of vaping and with the new brand Mental4Smoke presents a vast range of cigarette liquids electronic, the result of a careful selection of ingredients and with a totally Made in Italy production.

Synonymous with quality and reliability since 1936, Mental FASSI has been expanding its offer with food supplements with the new Mental Farma brand since 2024, thanks to its 88 years of experience.

The innovative concept of the project is to combine the pleasantness of a candy with the benefits of a supplement: thus the "MentalFarma" line was born, characterized by the claim "The supplement as good as a candy".

The ASL n. 1 of the Liguria Region, with resolution n. 325 of 04.15.2024, authorized the company to produce food supplements in tablets and the production of foods (candies) with added vitamins and/or mineral salts, issuing the definitive recognition with the CE number IT AIP070 22 for the plant located in Via Nazionale Sud n. 3 Chiusanico (IM), therefore recognizing the high standards of the structures and equipment.
